Rag Quilt

Most use flannel scraps, but I’ve seen this done in fleece/denim also...was awesome!!!

       1) cut squares.........7' to 9" your choice of flannel (I used
asst. or 2-solid) I make 80 squares, so the quilt is 8 blocks wide, 10
blocks long.  I find 9" blocks work best.  You will need 80 for the back as well, so cut a total of 160.  This makes a nice, roomy  lap-size, great for T.V. watching or travel.

       2)  cut batting 2 inches smaller then squares...great way to use
up scraps! (7 inch for 9” blocks)  you will need 80 for this size.

       3) sandwich batting & flannel squares, sew one inch all around
each square.  (Or be lazy like me and use quilt basting spray or spray adhesive!)

4)quilt each square (Some people just sew a big "X") to secure the pieces together.

5)sew blocks together at 1 inch, right where your line already
is. Making sure the front (top) is where the fringe is. This can be
tricky, so lay it out on the floor first.  I use all one color, or 2 color checker-board style for the back.....the is the smooth side is the back.

6) clip seams, the top,  about 1/4-1/2 inch for fringe

7) Wash to get fringe to fill out, and Walla!!! you have a great quilt!!

       Hope this helps..
